Birthmark
Year: 2017
Technique: series of 3 drawings, ink on paper, 29,7 x 21 cm
The series of three drawings was created as the result of a week-long artistic residency in Slovenj Gradec in September 2017 organized by Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art Koroška (KGLU). Within the framework of the project Story Time we made a collaborative project Herbs Without Borders together with Syrian artist Nadine Kaadan. While we were working together Nadine told me an interesting thing about her hometown – namely, that the locals call Damascus a wart. It prompted me to think about birthmarks and the meanings ascribed to them by various cultures.
Drawings on paper, transferred onto aluminium plate were exhibited in a public space of Slovenj Greadec as part of the exhibition In/On the Way. Story Time.
